In a safe, supervised and fun environment, your child will:

  • make easy and delicious recipes
  • explore a world of smells, colors, flavours and textures
  • learn about healthy food choices
  • learn about nutrients (vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, etc.) in a variety of foods
  • be encouraged to eat more fruits, vegetables, and other yummy and healthy ingredients
  • build important kitchen and fine motor skills such as whisking, pouring, mixing, etc.
  • meet and make new friends
  • learn about kitchen hygiene and food safety
  • learn how to safely use age-appropriate kitchen tools
  • become more confident in the kitchen
  • practice following directions, language skills and counting
  • develop their vocabulary and logical thinking
  • have the opportunity to learn about nutrition and food preparation by making easy and delicious recipes. And they will get to enjoy and share what they make with their new friends.

Your child won’t feel like they are learning because they will be more focused on what they are making.

I believe cooking is an important life skill children must have. We teach them how to read, write, do math, tie their shoe laces, be kind, be respectful and many other life skills. Teaching children how to cook not only helps them develop a healthy relationship with food, but also helps them to stay focused, remember the things they learn and keep their moods balanced and happy. Even more importantly, knowing how to cook will help future adults become self-sufficient in the kitchen, avoid fast food. These skills will help them avoid obesity and related chronic diseases such as diabetes, high blood pressure, and heart disease.

What will the children learn and do during EACH cooking class?

Children will be divided into small groups. Your child will work in their small group with other children.

Each group will make the same cooked recipe and the same un-cooked recipe. Two recipes will be made during each class.

The children will learn how to make healthy and delicious recipes free of processed sugar and soy.

We’ll talk about healthy eating and living while playing fun, interactive and educational food-related games and while making a fun food-related craft.

We’ll read a book about healthy foods and healthy living.

One active break (yoga, jumping jacks, running on the spot, etc.).

Your child will have their own apron to use during each class (the aprons need to be returned after each class to be washed).

All food ingredients and water are provided.

The children will be shown how to cut fruits and vegetables, but they will practice at home with you - little hands don’t hold knives in our class.

We will eat and share what we make during each class. If any leftovers, your child will bring them home to share with their family.

Before going home, each child will receive a folder with the recipes we make and educational information sheets on kitchen safety tips, kitchen hygiene, table manners, etc.

Last but not least, we’ll have A LOT of FUN while LEARNING.

Is there homework :)?

Yes there is! But don’t worry, it’s not mandatory. Every week the children will be given a few worksheets that they can complete at home by themselves or with the help of an adult. The worksheets will be age-appropriate, which means that a 4-year old might get different homework than a 7-year old. If completed, I encourage your child to bring the homework back for the next class.

Here are a few things clients say about working with me:

  Andrea – Calgary, Alberta

To work with Alina is a privilege. Alina’s knowledge of everything related to the body, both Western and Holistic, goes far beyond nutrition. She is the most trusted source of information I have in my health arsenal as her knowledge base is current, informed, and well-researched. She is extremely prepared, organized, and informed for each session, always supplying documentation, relevant resources, further information to explore, and follow up questions/reflections. She is also so well-informed about local options and resources for healing, health, and nutrition. Additionally, Alina is an excellent communicator and is very reachable, quickly responding to questions and offering suggestions. Alina herself is a pleasure to work with; she makes learning about the body and nutrition a fun endeavour! She also has a fantastic and quirky sense of humour, yet is very grounded and relatable. Alina is always extremely empathetic and supportive of my health concerns but also is able to maintain a positive, forward-focus and offers a necessary motivational push towards change when needed. Regardless of my progress, she always makes me feel important, respected, and heard. Thank you for your support Alina!

  Gabi - Calgary, Alberta

I have a very complex health situation, resulting from living for decades with diabetes and complications that led to severe consequences, including coronary artery disease and open heart surgery. Managing that has become an increasingly challenging and difficult matter in the last year, before I became an Orgali client. I am a very pragmatic person and this is the very first time I have decided to try the ways of holistic nutrition. Beyond any previous belief and expectations, I am simply impressed with the results! Complimentary to my medication treatment, Alina has devised an individual plan for me, with clear and specific guidelines that I implemented. I live now with normal blood sugar values and regained my energy levels. We are following up periodically with updated targets and Alina's passion and enthusiasm keeps me motivated and on track to achieve my goals. Fully recommend her great work
