Yummy, Healthy and Fun Foods for Valentine’s Day
(6-9 year olds)

Who said that healthy food can’t be yummy and fun? Let’s push the junk food out and bring the whole foods in.

Family events can be fun while enjoying homemade food made with wholesome ingredients and avoiding those with hard-to-pronounce chemicals.

Let’s learn new skills in the kitchen, practice old skills and have loads of fun while learning about nutrition and about how to keep our bodies healthy and happy.

Let’s learn how to make easy, yummy and healthy Valentine’s Day recipes so you can make them at home for your loved ones.

Let’s try new foods and let’s be a bit less picky today than we were yesterday. Let’s find foods you have never tried before, but that will become your new favourites.

I believe cooking is an important life skill children must have. We teach them how to read, write, do math, tie their shoe laces, be kind, be respectful and many other life skills. Teaching children how to cook not only helps them develop a healthy relationship with food, but also helps them to stay focused, remember what they learn and keep their moods balanced and happy.

Even more importantly, knowing how to cook will help future adults become self-sufficient in the kitchen and help them avoid fast food and frozen dinners as much as possible. These skills will also help them avoid obesity and related chronic diseases such as diabetes, high blood pressure, and heart disease in the future.
